The Martin Room is named after Goldwin Arthur Martin who
was a famous Canadian criminal lawyer. The panelling for this
room came from the Lord Mayor's Dining Room at the Old
Bailey in London, England.
In November 1967 James Armstrong, the Agent General in
the United Kingdom for the Province of Ontario learned at a
luncheon that the panelling might be available and efforts
were made at once to acquire it. The first request was made
by Chief Justice Gale of Ontario on Nov. 16, 1967.
